Heat Eye Strategic Move with Hawks to Trade Key Guard for $215 Million Superstar

Many fans have been impressed by Tyler Herro’s recent performances, showing notable improvement in various aspects of his game over the summer. In the Heat’s season opener against the Orlando Magic, he stood out as one of the team’s better players, especially on a night when Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo combined for just 12 points. However, if the Heat’s season doesn’t start as planned, the organization may consider alternative strategies, including trading significant assets for a chance to win now.

A proposed trade mentioned by Jonah Kubicek in The Sporting News suggests the Heat could pursue Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks. He noted that if Atlanta is willing to trade their star player, they would expect a package focused on the future in return. Miami’s best offer would likely include Tyler Herro (24 years old), Duncan Robinson (30), and rookie Kel’el Ware (20), along with first-round draft picks in 2029 and 2031.

Kubicek believes that acquiring Young before the 2025 trade deadline could position the Heat as serious contenders alongside teams like the New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, and Philadelphia 76ers against the Boston Celtics. Meanwhile, the Hawks would shift into a rebuilding phase. Young, a standout player in the league, is currently averaging 34 points, 11 assists, and 6.5 rebounds in the first two games of the season. Although he has defensive shortcomings, the article suggests that Erik Spoelstra’s Heat could effectively address those weaknesses.
