Late Wednesday night, the Baltimore Ravens experienced a shift in their roster as linebacker Josh Ross was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks.
The move came after the Ravens activated cornerback Arthur Maulet from injured reserve, which necessitated waiving Ross. Although the Ravens had the option to keep him on their practice squad, they were ultimately unable to retain him, allowing Seattle to step in.
This change reunites Ross with Mike Macdonald, the defensive coordinator who oversaw his rise to the Ravens’ 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie in 2022. Initially, Ross had a promising opportunity for significant playing time alongside Patrick Queen but suffered an injury in Week 2. Since then, he has found himself behind established players Roquan Smith and Queen. The following year, Ross did not make the roster and spent 2023 on the practice squad. In 2024, he faced competition from Trenton Simpson.
Now, Ross will have a new opportunity to earn playing time with Seattle, as the team looks to address its linebacker situation, having also made a trade that same day.
