The New Orleans Saints aren’t throwing in the towel despite a five-game losing streak. Their front office is actively seeking to bolster the offense, primarily through free agency.
Recently, a veteran wide receiver became available after being released by an AFC team, and the Saints are looking to capitalize on this opportunity.
Saints Host Veteran WR for Visit
According to Ian Rapoport, the Saints are hosting wide receiver Marques Valdes-Scantling for a visit and workout on Sunday evening.
Help is on the way for a banged up #Saints receiver room: Former #Bills WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling will fly to New Orleans tonight to visit with and work out for the #Saints tomorrow, per me and @TomPelissero.

If all goes well during the meeting and workout, a deal could be reached soon between the Saints and the wideout.
Valdes-Scantling, who was released by the Buffalo Bills after they traded for Amari Cooper, has garnered interest from the Saints. The Bills deemed him expendable following the Cooper acquisition, even though MVS is a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Known for his ability to stretch the field, Valdes-Scantling stands 6’4″ and is 30 years old. At this stage of his career, he’s primarily seen as a depth option, but the Saints need that.
With trade options likely too costly and the team recently losing wide receiver Rashid Shaheed for the remainder of the season, adding depth is crucial. Shaheed had been their top deep threat and arguably their best receiver this season. Meanwhile, Chris Olave remains in concussion protocol, with his Week 8 availability against the Los Angeles Chargers still uncertain.
In any case, Valdes-Scantling could be a valuable, experienced addition to the Saints’ offense. A signing could happen in the coming days.
