Eagles Make Strategic Moves: Surprising Roster Changes Ahead of Critical Browns Matchup!

The Eagles have filled an open spot on their 53-man roster by signing wide receiver Parris Campbell from the practice squad on Saturday. Additionally, they elevated offensive lineman Jack Driscoll from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

Campbell, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 205 pounds, has been elevated from the practice squad three times this season, recording six catches for 30 yards and a touchdown in 99 offensive snaps. A former second-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts, where he played under then-Offensive Coordinator Nick Sirianni, Campbell has amassed 97 receptions for 983 yards and five touchdowns over four seasons and 32 games (24 starts). He spent the 2023 season with the New York Giants, logging 20 receptions for 104 yards.

His addition provides speed and depth to the roster, especially with Britain Covey currently on Injured Reserve. Initially hesitant to rejoin the practice squad after being released by the Eagles at the end of the preseason, Campbell was persuaded by Sirianni to stay. Now, he has secured a spot on the active roster.

“Parris has done some really good things. I’ve seen him make plays for a long time in this league,” Sirianni stated on Friday. “He plays with relentless effort, physicality, and toughness. He’s capitalized on his opportunities, and his speed is a valuable asset.”

Driscoll, measuring 6-foot-5 and 312 pounds, was a fourth-round draft pick by the Eagles in 2020 from Auburn. In his four seasons with the team, he has played in 54 games and boasts 17 career starts across left tackle, right guard, and right tackle. After signing with the Dolphins in the 2024 offseason, he returned to the Eagles’ practice squad on September 8 and is set to make his season debut.

With Campbell being promoted to the active roster, safety Sydney Brown (Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform) and wide receiver Ainias Smith (Injured Reserve; Designated for Return) will not be activated for at least another week. Both players had their practice windows opened this week and participated fully in preparations for the upcoming game against the Browns.

The Browns also made roster moves ahead of the game, activating linebacker Mohamoud Diabate (Injured Reserve), defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. (Exempt/Commissioner permission), and defensive tackle Maurice Hurst (Injured Reserve).
