The Philadelphia Eagles have added former Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah to their practice squad.
On Thursday, the Eagles announced they have re-signed the veteran tight end, who is 31 years old. Uzomah was selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Bengals, where he enjoyed a successful seven-season career. His standout year came in 2019, with 49 receptions for 493 yards and five touchdowns, all career highs.
After joining the Jets in 2022, Uzomah played 15 games that year and 12 the following season, but he suffered an MCL injury that led to his placement on injured reserve.
To accommodate Uzomah, the Eagles released safety Caden Sterns. The team had initially signed Uzomah in April but released him in August before bringing him back now.
The Eagles are set to face the Bengals in Week 8, which could lead to an intriguing matchup if Uzomah is promoted to the active roster by then.
