Two days after his release from the Arizona Cardinals, receiver Chris Moore has been signed to the team’s practice squad.
To make room for Moore, the Cardinals released receiver Dan Chisena from the practice squad.
The 31-year-old Moore had participated in 27 offensive snaps before being cut, ranking fifth among Arizona’s wideouts in that category. His release came alongside the return of receiver Zay Jones to practice this week, although Jones won’t play against the Green Bay Packers due to a hamstring issue that arose on Thursday.
Both Moore and fellow veteran Zach Pascal have played less than 10% of the offensive snaps, but Pascal has an advantage in staying on the 53-man roster due to his reliability as a special teams player, having appeared in 77 plays on that unit.
This season, Arizona’s receiving corps has been led by rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. with 279 yards and second-year player Michael Wilson with 216 yards. Slot receiver Greg Dortch has also contributed 138 yards, achieving that in just 55% of the available offensive snaps. The offense has relied heavily on tight ends Trey McBride, Elijah Higgins, and Tip Reiman, limiting the chances for a third wide receiver.
Once healthy, Jones is expected to receive a significant number of snaps, as he is returning from a five-game suspension for personal conduct and is currently not on the 53-man roster.
