The Notre Dame football team is gearing up for their next game, and they might soon have a new commit. The Irish are reportedly close to securing another wide receiver, potentially flipping a commit from one of the ACC’s hottest programs.
Jalen Cooper, a 4-star prospect, received an offer from Notre Dame in August and appears ready to make a decision. However, Notre Dame must convince Cooper that South Bend is a better fit than SMU, to which he is currently committed.
Cooper is scheduled for an official visit to Notre Dame this weekend, where he’ll watch the Irish face Stanford. Notre Dame already has two wide receiver commits for the 2025 class—Jerome Bettis Jr. and Elijah Burress—and they’re eager to add a third. While Cooper could start on defense, the Irish are likely considering him for an offensive role as well.
Though still committed to SMU, Cooper has mentioned that Notre Dame is the only other school he’s seriously considering. The visit presents a prime opportunity for Notre Dame to showcase their program and potentially secure a key flip in their recruiting efforts.
