Insider Reveals Details: Jevon Holland’s Injury Not as Critical as It Seems, but Still a Long Road to Recovery

The Miami Dolphins faced a setback with Jevon Holland suffering a broken bone in his hand during the game against the Patriots. However, it seems that the worst-case scenario has been avoided for head coach Mike McDaniel and the team.

Following Sunday’s victory, Holland was seen wearing a cast, raising concerns about his future. Omar Kelly reported that some teammates believed he might need surgery. While that could still be a possibility, McDaniel indicated that Holland’s condition is better than initially feared.

After the win, there were discussions about how this injury could affect Holland’s career with the Dolphins, especially if surgery was necessary, which could have sidelined him for the rest of the season. As he approaches free agency in 2025, the situation seemed precarious. Fortunately, it appears Holland may continue to play for Miami.

During a Monday press conference, McDaniel stated that Holland’s injury is classified as “week-to-week,” which is positive news for a Dolphins defense that relies heavily on him. The team lacks depth in the secondary, with only Marcus Maye currently healthy on the 53-man roster.

With a bye week coming up, Holland’s injury won’t affect the upcoming game, but his situation remains fluid. He is still being evaluated, and there’s a chance he could be placed on Injured Reserve depending on his recovery.

While Holland is week-to-week, the Dolphins will need to explore options for additional safety help, as they cannot rely solely on their current players. They may consider signing a free agent or promoting someone from the practice squad. The team has an undrafted rookie available and experimented with Elijah Campbell and Nik Needham at safety during training camp, but their future roles are uncertain.
