The Atlanta Falcons have bolstered their offensive line by signing Matthew Cindric to their practice squad. This move comes just a day after the team lost offensive guard Andrew Stueber to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Cindric, 25, played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, where he participated in 35 games and made 34 starts—17 at center and 17 at right guard. After redshirting in 2018, he played from 2019 to 2023 for the Golden Bears.
During his college career, Cindric was recognized as a four-time Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll selection and received numerous off-field honors. He was a two-time semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year, and the Wuerffel Trophy, and he was named to the AFCA Good Works Team in 2023.
Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 295 pounds, Cindric went undrafted in 2024 and initially signed with the Minnesota Vikings after the draft. However, he was released on May 31 when the Vikings added veteran guard Dalton Risner but was re-signed on August 21. He was waived again during the final roster cuts on August 26 and has been a free agent since.
After impressing during a workout with the Falcons on Monday, Cindric earned a spot on the practice squad. He joins center Matt Hennessy, who has already been elevated to the active roster twice this season and can only be promoted one more time.
The Falcons will return to practice on Wednesday at IBM Performance in Flowery Branch, Georgia, before facing the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium.
