Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe has been diagnosed with a small posterior labral tear in his left shoulder, likely sidelining him at the start of the season, according to the team’s announcement on Saturday. An MRI confirmed the injury, and Sharpe is set to begin rehabilitation, with an expected recovery time of four to six weeks.
The Blazers are set to kick off their regular season on October 23 against the Golden State Warriors.
At just 21 years old, Sharpe had an impressive season last year, averaging nearly 16 points per game for the rebuilding Blazers. However, his playing time was limited after he suffered an abdominal strain in December, which required surgery in February and ultimately caused him to miss the rest of the season.
Sharpe was drafted by Portland with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, and his development will be crucial as the team looks to build for the future. Missing him at the start of the season will be a challenge for the Blazers as they seek to establish their identity and improve their performance in the upcoming year.
