Despite uncertainty surrounding their top pass rusher for Sunday’s game, the Jaguars may see multiple players return as they prepare to host the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium, marking their first home game in three weeks.
“We’re gradually bringing back some of our key players from injury,” Head Coach Doug Pederson stated on Friday as the Jaguars (0-4) geared up to face the Colts (2-2) at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Defensive end Josh Hines-Allen, who has one sack this season after setting a franchise record with 17.5 sacks last year, is listed as questionable due to a concussion sustained in last week’s loss to the Houston Texans. He practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday.
Pederson expressed optimism about Hines-Allen’s chances of being cleared from concussion protocol. “He still has to get through another phase, but he’s doing well,” he said.
Additionally, safety Darnell Savage (quadriceps) and linebacker Devin Lloyd (knee) are expected to play on Sunday. Savage has missed the last three games, while Lloyd sat out the loss against the Texans. Both players were also listed as questionable on Friday. “Both those guys should play,” Pederson said, emphasizing Savage’s importance as a veteran leader who brings energy to the team.
Tight end Evan Engram is still considered “day-to-day” after missing three games, and he was listed as questionable on the injury report following limited practices throughout the week. Pederson indicated that Engram would likely be a game-time decision on Sunday. “He’s done some good things this week,” he noted. “We’ll see where he’s at later as we get closer.”
Notably, linebacker Yasir Abdullah (neck) and safety Daniel Thomas (hamstring) were also listed as questionable. All other players on the injury report this week—running back Tank Bigsby (shoulder), wide receiver Gabe Davis (shoulder), running back Travis Etienne Jr. (shoulder), and cornerback Jarrian Jones (shoulder)—were noted without a status and are expected to be available for Sunday’s game.
