Oklahoma continues to deal with the absence of one of its key offensive players, Nic Anderson, who is expected to miss several more weeks due to a lingering quad injury, sources from 247Sports and CBS Sports confirm. Anderson, a standout wide receiver with 10 touchdown receptions last season, has been sidelined by the injury since the preseason. Although he made his season debut in Week 4, he missed the Sooners’ latest game against Auburn.
Injuries have plagued Oklahoma’s receiving corps throughout the season. In addition to Anderson’s limited participation, other key receivers have also been sidelined. Jayden Gibson suffered a season-ending knee injury in August, Jalil Farooq has been out with a foot injury sustained during the preseason, Andrel Anthony has appeared in just one game due to injury, and star wideout Deion Burks missed the Auburn game with a lower-body injury.
These injuries have significantly impacted Oklahoma’s passing game, leaving the team ranked second-to-last in the SEC with an average of just 169 passing yards per game. With a bye this week, the Sooners will hope to regroup ahead of their upcoming matchup against No. 2 Texas next Saturday.
