On October 1, Notre Dame secured a commitment from 2025 recruit Antavious Richardson, flipping him from the USF Bulls.
Richardson, a state champion sprinter from Georgia, chose the Irish despite strong interest from Alabama. New head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff hosted Richardson in Tuscaloosa, where he watched Alabama fend off a 19-point fourth-quarter rally from Georgia, ultimately winning the game 41-34 with eight points scored in the final minutes.
Previously, Richardson had committed to the Bulls in June. Ranked as the No. 438 overall player, the No. 24 athlete, and the No. 51 player in Georgia, Richardson showcases his versatility by playing wildcat quarterback and various defensive positions for his team at Greenville High School.
In four games this season, Richardson has completed 17 of 27 passes for 411 yards, with five touchdowns and one interception. He has also rushed 44 times for 571 yards and one touchdown. On the defensive side, he has recorded 33 tackles, including five for loss, along with an interception.
As a junior, Richardson excelled in track, winning the Georgia A-Division II state championships in both the 100m and 200m sprints, posting impressive personal bests of 10.68 seconds and 21.43 seconds, respectively. His Twitter bio also highlights a state championship in the 400m.
Additionally, Richardson stands out academically, maintaining a 3.9 GPA, which underscores his potential as a two-sport athlete and multidimensional football player. His commitment to Notre Dame reflects not only his athletic abilities but also his dedication to academics, making him an attractive recruit for the coaching staff.
