Previewing the Week 4 matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears, one of the notable NFL storylines is the injury Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice suffered against the Los Angeles Chargers, believed to be a torn ACL that could end his season.
With the Chiefs already missing Hollywood Brown, speculation has arisen about a potential wide receiver trade, with Chicago Bears receiver Keenan Allen among the names mentioned. Peter Schrager from NFL Network floated the idea of the Chiefs pursuing Allen. However, there are significant issues with this proposal.
Allen, who has been dealing with a heel injury, has seen limited action this season. In fact, the Bears’ win over the Rams was only Allen’s second game, and he contributed minimally with 3 catches for 18 yards. This raises doubts about whether the Chiefs should target Allen, especially given his current health status.
From the Bears’ perspective, trading Allen doesn’t make sense either. He was brought in to strengthen the wide receiver corps, aiding quarterback Caleb Williams. Removing Allen would counteract the progress made in improving the offense, even though the Bears also have talent like Rome Odunze.
If the Chiefs are intent on acquiring a Bears receiver, a more realistic trade target might be Tyler Scott, a speedy player who has yet to make an impact in Chicago’s offense this season.
