The Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans are having drastically different seasons. The Chiefs are off to a 4-0 start and aiming for another championship, while the Titans remain winless at 0-3 and are still searching for their franchise quarterback.
However, recent developments suggest that the two teams could soon be involved in a significant trade.
According to Alex Hoegler of Total Pro Sports, with Chiefs receivers Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown sidelined, Kansas City is in need of depth at wide receiver as they chase a three-peat. Tennessee’s star wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, may be the answer. Hopkins, who is in the final year of his contract on a winless Titans team, could be on the Chiefs’ radar as a short-term replacement for Rice.
The Titans made a critical error by holding on to running back Derrick Henry last year instead of trading him, only to lose him in free agency. They can’t afford to make the same mistake with Hopkins. A seven-time 1,000-yard receiver, Hopkins would instantly slot in as the Chiefs’ top receiver in Rice’s absence, and at 32 years old, he’s likely eager to play for a contender.
A possible trade could involve a conditional 2025 fourth-round pick, which might turn into a third-rounder depending on Hopkins’ performance, along with a 2026 fifth-round pick. Given Hopkins’ contract status, the Titans aren’t likely to get a substantial return.
For the Chiefs, this move presents a low-risk, high-reward opportunity as they continue their pursuit of another title.
