As we head into Week 4 of the NFL season, the New York Jets are riding a two-game winning streak, largely thanks to a revitalized Aaron Rodgers. Currently, the Jets are just one game behind the division-leading Buffalo Bills, whom they’ll host at MetLife Stadium in Week 6. Rodgers is showing flashes of his old form, but a recent article from *Bleacher Report* speculated that the Jets might consider trading for former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young from the Carolina Panthers.
“The New York Jets could be eyeing Young as a possible successor to the 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers,” *Bleacher Report* suggested. They also mentioned that the Tennessee Titans could be in the mix for Young if second-year quarterback Will Levis continues to struggle.
The Jets, however, already drafted their potential heir in Florida State’s Jordan Travis earlier this year. Travis, who had an impressive 21-3 record over his last two seasons and threw 44 touchdowns with just seven interceptions, was sidelined by a season-ending ankle injury in late November. Initially projected as an early second-round pick, his injury saw him slide to the fifth round, where the Jets picked him up.
Travis is expected to sit behind Rodgers this season, and likely next, gaining valuable experience from the four-time NFL MVP. Meanwhile, Bryce Young has struggled in his NFL career so far, going 2-16 as a starter, facing criticism for his size and decision-making. Given Travis’s presence and potential, it seems unlikely the Jets would spend draft capital on Young at this point.
