Elias Lindholm, the Boston Bruins’ major offseason signing, is currently sidelined due to an undisclosed day-to-day injury. The center, who recently inked a seven-year, $54.25 million contract to lead the Bruins’ top line, has not yet participated in full-contact training or games, missing the start of training camp. Head coach Jim Montgomery has been cautious regarding Lindholm’s condition, indicating that his absence is a precautionary measure. “He took the day off, didn’t give it a go today just because of where he’s at,” Montgomery stated, noting that Lindholm is not expected to play this week. Earlier in the camp, Montgomery mentioned they were being “extra cautious” about Lindholm’s recovery.
The Bruins have not specified the details of Lindholm’s injury, but Montgomery suggested it might be related to general soreness. This lack of clarity raises concerns, especially considering the team’s need for a solid first-line center after last season’s overachievement without one. Last season, Lindholm, previously with the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, managed to secure 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) over 75 regular-season games, adding another 10 points during 13 playoff games with the Canucks.
As Lindholm continues to recover, the Bruins are eager for him to return to the ice, hoping he can fulfill the expectations that come with his significant new contract. The team is taking a cautious approach, aiming to ensure he is fully fit before returning to play.
