Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow is dealing with a week-to-week torn pectoral injury, marking the latest in a string of injuries for the team. In their Week 3 win against the Arizona Cardinals, the Lions also saw tight end Sam LaPorta carted off the field with an ankle sprain, though he is expected to miss only a short time. Meanwhile, pass rusher Marcus Davenport was lost for the season due to an elbow injury. Ragnow, a three-time Pro Bowler and key figure on Detroit’s offensive line, suffered the pec tear early in the game. Fortunately, his injury isn’t expected to end his season, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Ragnow, who has been the Lions’ starting center since being drafted 20th overall in 2018, has been a consistent force on the offensive line. He’s earned second-team All-Pro honors twice (2020 and 2023) and played a critical role in Detroit’s playoff run last season, where they reached the NFC Championship game before falling to the San Francisco 49ers.
The Lions, now 2-1, are off to a strong start in the 2024 season despite numerous injuries. After victories against the Rams and Cardinals, Detroit will face the undefeated Seattle Seahawks in Week 4’s Monday Night Football.
