Four-star quarterback prospect Helaman Casuga from Corner Canyon (UT) is set to announce his college commitment on October 8 at 7:30 p.m. MT, according to 247Sports. Casuga will choose between eight schools: Arizona, Auburn, BYU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, and Washington. He initially revealed his top choices in August.

Casuga, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 198 pounds, is ranked No. 79 overall and the No. 6 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class by Rivals. While Texas A&M is considered the frontrunner by On3, Casuga’s social media cover photo features him visiting USC, hinting that the Utah native could be leaning toward the Trojans.
“Who wouldn’t want to play for Coach Lincoln Riley?” Casuga told 247Sports. “He was one of the first to recognize my potential and continues to send his staff to check in on me.”
Casuga’s admiration stems from Riley’s track record of developing top quarterbacks like Heisman winners Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Caleb Williams. Even Jalen Hurts, who was a Heisman runner-up under Riley, has gone on to achieve NFL success, nearly winning MVP and a Super Bowl ring.
If USC secures Casuga’s commitment, it would further strengthen their already impressive 2026 recruiting class, currently ranked No. 7 by On3. Casuga, known for his strong arm, accuracy, and decision-making, would be a natural fit for Riley’s offense. In his most recent game, the junior quarterback completed 19-of-23 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns, adding a rushing score.
Greg Biggins of 247Sports praised Casuga’s skills, noting his mechanical soundness, quick release, and ability to make plays under pressure. He threw for 4,145 yards and 34 touchdowns as a sophomore, completing nearly 65% of his passes.
If Casuga commits to USC, the Trojans’ recruiting momentum in the 2026 cycle is expected to continue beyond this top quarterback prospect.
