Cardinals Place Key Starting Tackle on Injury Report Ahead of Matchup with Lions

The Arizona Cardinals have released their Thursday injury report ahead of their game against the Detroit Lions.

**Cardinals Injury Report:**
– Did Not Practice (DNP): Xavier Thomas (personal reasons)
– Limited Participation: Kelvin Beachum (hamstring), Dante Stills (shoulder)
– Full Participation: Xavier Weaver (oblique), Will Hernandez (ankle)

One of the key updates is right tackle Kelvin Beachum, who was limited due to a hamstring injury after fully participating in Wednesday’s practice. Xavier Thomas was another new addition to the injury list, after practicing without issues the day before.

Do the Arizona Cardinals seriously have a legitimate chance at the playoffs in 2024?

The Cardinals’ starting right tackle, Jonah Williams, sustained a knee injury during Week 1 and has since been placed on injured reserve. Beachum, who filled in for Williams, struggled initially, giving up two sacks to Buffalo Bills’ outside linebacker Von Miller. However, he bounced back with a stronger performance during last week’s victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

If Beachum is unable to play on Sunday against the Lions, Jackson Barton would likely step in as the starting right tackle. Barton will face a tough challenge, as the Lions feature Aidan Hutchinson, one of the NFL’s top edge rushers.

**Lions Injury Report:**
– Did Not Practice (DNP): Terrion Arnold (illness), Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle), Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring)
– Limited Participation: Alex Anzalone (concussion), Graham Glasgow (knee), Isaiah Williams (abs)
– Full Participation: Kerby Joseph (back), Marcus Davenport (groin), Amon-Ra St. Brown (quad)

For the Lions, linebacker Alex Anzalone, safety Kerby Joseph, and cornerback Terrion Arnold all saw improvements in their practice status on Thursday, which is promising for their availability.

As both teams prepare for their matchup, injuries could play a significant role in the outcome, especially with key players potentially sidelined. The Cardinals will be hoping Beachum can recover quickly to bolster their offensive line, while the Lions will monitor the health of their defensive and offensive starters.
