Michigan Football at Risk of Losing Three Key Commits as Rivals Push to Flip

The 2024 Michigan football season has had a rough start, but there’s still time for a turnaround. With Sherrone Moore’s recent decision to change quarterbacks, Alex Orji could bring the offensive spark the Wolverines desperately need.

In college football, success on the field impacts not only the present but also the future, particularly in recruiting. Wins and losses can influence top recruits, and Michigan has already seen one top-100 recruit from the 2025 class, Nate Marshall, flip to Auburn. To avoid further losses, here are three crucial recruits Michigan cannot afford to lose.

Thoughts on Michigan football's preseason ranking coming off national title

**Andrew Olesh**
A key offensive commitment in Michigan’s 2025 class is four-star tight end Andrew Olesh, who chose the Wolverines over Alabama and Penn State. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound standout from Pennsylvania is ranked 94th overall and is expected to contribute early, especially if Colston Loveland heads to the NFL. However, according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine, Olesh will be visiting Alabama this weekend, raising concerns.

**Ivan Taylor**
Michigan’s top-ranked defensive commitment, Ivan Taylor, is another critical recruit. Ranked 56th overall, Taylor flipped to Michigan from Notre Dame, but reports suggest he will also visit Alabama. While the coaching staff isn’t overly concerned, visits to other programs are never a good sign, and Taylor is a key player Michigan needs to retain.

**Jasper Parker**
Four-star running back Jasper Parker from Louisiana is another name to watch. Initially a three-star recruit ranked outside the top 500, Parker has risen to 273rd overall and looks like a future starter. Although LSU showed little interest during his recruitment, there’s always the chance they could pursue him, similar to their successful flip of three-star receiver Phillip Wright from Michigan. Keeping Parker, along with Olesh and Taylor, is essential for the Wolverines.
