Former Phoenix Suns shooting guard Landry Shamet has agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Shamet’s agent, George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group, confirmed the deal, highlighting Shamet’s career averages of 8.7 points per game and a 38 percent shooting rate from beyond the arc.
Shamet, who has been a free agent since July after being waived by the Washington Wizards, spent last season with Washington following his inclusion in the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Wizards and Bradley Beal to the Suns.
Previously, Shamet was a part of the Suns’ rotation under coach Monty Williams starting in 2021. He signed a four-year, $43 million rookie extension with Phoenix in October 2021. Before joining the Suns, Shamet played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Brooklyn Nets.

Now, Shamet reunites with former Suns teammate Mikal Bridges, who joined the Knicks this offseason after being traded from the Nets, who acquired him in a blockbuster deal from Phoenix in exchange for Kevin Durant.
Bridges recalled their time together in Phoenix, saying, “I remember watching him play in Philly, a lot of catch-and-shoot. I knew him from college, where he played point guard and came off ball screens. I had to remind myself of his evolution from Wichita State, where he wasn’t just a shooter like J.J. Redick.”
