Indianapolis – The Indianapolis Colts have promoted defensive end Genard Avery and safety Ronnie Harrison Jr. from the practice squad to the active roster for their game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Avery, standing 6-0 and weighing 250 pounds, joined the Colts’ practice squad on August 28, 2024, after initially signing with the team as a free agent on June 1, 2023. Over his career, which includes stints with the Colts (2023-24), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2022), Philadelphia Eagles (2019-21), and Cleveland Browns (2018-19), Avery has appeared in 62 games (17 starts). His career stats include 100 tackles (61 solo), 12.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, five passes defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and six special teams stops. Avery has also played in one postseason game, recording one tackle. His first name is pronounced juh-NARD.
Harrison Jr., at 6-3 and 214 pounds, was added to the practice squad on September 11, 2024. He participated in the Colts‘ 2024 offseason program and training camp. Originally signed by Indianapolis as a free agent on August 14, 2023, Harrison Jr. has played 74 career games (48 starts) with the Colts (2023-24), Browns (2020-22), and Jacksonville Jaguars (2018-19). His career totals include 238 tackles (156 solo), 10.0 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 25 passes defensed, seven interceptions (two of which were returned for touchdowns), two fumble recoveries, and five special teams stops. Harrison Jr. has also competed in two postseason games (one start), amassing seven tackles (five solo) and 1.0 tackle for loss.
