Knicks Eye Deal to Send All-Star Forward to Mavericks for Key Assets

The New York Knicks could potentially trade All-Star forward Julius Randle before the 2024-25 NBA trade deadline, fueling speculation about his next destination. Randle, the Knicks’ franchise player from 2019-2023, handed that title to Jalen Brunson last season. As the Knicks prepare for a stronger starting lineup, one trade proposal suggests sending Randle to a team where he could compete for a championship in a supporting role.

An analyst from twsn.net, known as “Arkay,” predicts the Knicks could trade Randle to the Dallas Mavericks before the deadline, citing a potential poor fit in New York. The proposed trade package would see the Mavericks receive Randle in exchange for P.J. Washington, Daniel Gafford, Jaden Hardy, and a 2025 second-round pick from the Toronto Raptors.

Arkay argues this deal would create “the most skilled Mavericks team since the 2010-11 season” and would allow the Knicks to move on from Randle if they prefer a smaller lineup or can’t afford to keep him long-term. The Knicks would benefit from Washington, a capable scorer, Gafford’s efficiency at center, and Hardy’s scoring potential, offering depth and flexibility.

For Dallas, Randle would form a formidable big four alongside Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson. The trade would be enticing for the Knicks, especially with the future draft pick included, making it a realistic option for the front office to consider.
