Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton has solidified his status as one of the NBA’s top players. When asked if he would consider leaving the Pacers, Haliburton put any doubts to rest.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Haliburton stated on *The Pat McAfee Show.* “If anyone wants to play with me, they’ll have to come here. The Stephon Marbury comment is a bit odd… Why does Phoenix need me? They’ve got Tyus Jones and a good squad. I’m happy in Indy, they’re fine in Phoenix. Everyone’s good right now.”
Marbury had recently suggested that Haliburton would be a great fit for the Phoenix Suns, but Haliburton is committed to staying with the Pacers. Indiana, with Haliburton at the helm, is poised to make noise during the 2024-25 season.
For now, Haliburton is focused on preparing for the upcoming season and enjoying his life in Indiana. He’s frequently spotted at Indiana Fever and Indianapolis Colts games, embracing the local community. Additionally, Haliburton was part of the 2024 USA Olympic team, which won gold, although he saw limited playing time. Nonetheless, the experience allowed him to connect with NBA legends like LeBron James.
Speaking on his Olympic experience, Haliburton shared, “LeBron was a great teammate. Everyone was cool… We’d have dinner and talk hoops for hours. It was a great time.”
Looking ahead, Haliburton could play a more prominent role for Team USA in future Olympics, potentially leading the team alongside Anthony Edwards in 2028. For now, he’s content with his Olympic experience.
As for the Pacers, when asked if Indiana could win the championship in the 2024-25 season, Haliburton confidently responded, “Yeah.” After reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last season, where they fell to the eventual champion Boston Celtics, the Pacers are gearing up for another strong playoff push with Haliburton leading the way.
