A former New York Mets All-Star and fan favorite is looking for a reunion with the team in hopes of reviving his struggling career.
Heading into today’s MLB action, the Mets are one of the league’s hottest teams, having won 10 of their last 11 games. They’re just a game and a half behind the top Wild Card spot, with star shortstop Francisco Lindor entering the National League MVP conversation.
This surge has been unexpected, given the low preseason expectations and a rocky start that had the team pegged as potential sellers at the trade deadline. However, the success has fueled optimism for the Mets’ future under new team president David Stearns.
Regardless of their postseason fate, the Mets are expected to pursue big names in free agency. One notable player hoping for a return to New York is Noah Syndergaard, who expressed his desire during an appearance on “The Terry Collins Show.” The former Mets pitcher said, “I would love to come home to New York. Hopefully, that’s in store for me. I love the fanbase, the city, the culture, the history, the passion. It’s the best place to play.”
Syndergaard, once a top Mets prospect and All-Star in 2016, has struggled to regain his form since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2020. After playing for four different teams following his 2021 departure, the 32-year-old remains unsigned for this season.
