The Charlotte Hornets have announced the addition of four players to their roster on Exhibit 10 contracts.
The players are:
– Caleb McConnell, wing
– Marcus Garrett, wing
– Keyontae Johnson, wing
– Joel Soriano, big
McConnell and Garrett, who both played for the Hornets during the summer league, impressed the team enough to earn spots for training camp. Garrett also had experience with the Swarm last season, although his performance was modest.
Joel Soriano’s signing was initially reported in late June after the draft, but it has only recently been confirmed. Soriano, a productive starting center at St. John’s, averaged a double-double over his final two collegiate seasons and contributed additional stats in assists and blocks.
Keyontae Johnson stands out among the new signees. After a life-threatening collapse during a game at Florida, Johnson made a remarkable recovery, finishing his college career at Kansas State. Drafted in the second round by the Oklahoma City Thunder, he played in nine NBA games and has potential to secure a spot in the league with continued development.
Exhibit 10 contracts are non-guaranteed deals designed to help teams build their G League affiliates. Typically, if a player is released from an Exhibit 10 contract, they receive a substantial signing bonus if they join the team’s G League affiliate. Essentially, players on Exhibit 10 deals will participate in NBA training camps and likely start the regular season with the G League team.
