**SALT LAKE CITY – Nearly a month after initial reports, the Utah Jazz have officially added veteran guard Patty Mills to their roster.**
On August 14, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first broke the news of Mills’ agreement with the Jazz, and the signing was finalized on September 5.
Wojnarowski reported, “Free agent guard Patty Mills has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Utah Jazz.”
**What Patty Mills Brings to the Jazz**
Mills joins the Jazz after stints with the Atlanta Hawks and the Miami Heat during the 2023-24 season.
At 36 years old, Mills started his NBA career when the Portland Trail Blazers selected him in the second round of the 2009 draft. However, he spent the majority of his career with the San Antonio Spurs, where he worked with current Jazz head coach Will Hardy, then an assistant with the Spurs.
Throughout his career, Mills has averaged 8.8 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per game, with a 38 percent shooting rate from beyond the arc.
Despite limited playtime over the last two seasons—fewer than 40 games each year—Mills is set to bring valuable veteran leadership to a young Jazz team. His experience includes 98 career playoff games and an NBA championship with the Spurs in 2014.
Originally from Canberra, Australia, Mills played two seasons at St. Mary’s before entering the NBA draft. He also represented Australia at the 2024 Olympics, averaging 16.5 points per game in four games.
With Mills’ signing now official, the Jazz have filled all 15 guaranteed roster spots as they prepare for training camp, which begins on October 1.
