At the start of the summer, Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng seemed close to narrowing down his college choices to four schools, even considering ending his recruitment before his senior year at IMG Academy. However, the highly sought-after 2025 linebacker has since expanded his options, adding schools like Florida and Texas to his list.
Owusu-Boateng recently visited Gainesville for the Gators’ game against Miami and has expressed interest in returning for an official visit. He already has an official visit scheduled with Texas on October 19th when the Longhorns host Georgia.
Reflecting on his recruitment process after his team’s win over Bergen Catholic on Thursday, Owusu-Boateng emphasized the importance of taking his time to ensure he makes the right decision. “Just knowing that I want to take time with the process and then knowing that I’m only going to go through this one time so I can’t make any mistakes,” he said.
Despite considering new schools, Owusu-Boateng remains committed to his original top four: Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State, and Michigan. He visited all four schools in June and plans to return for games this fall, including a potential trip to South Bend in November when Notre Dame hosts Florida State.
Notre Dame’s recruitment efforts are being led by head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive coordinator Al Golden, and linebackers coach Max Bullough—all former linebackers themselves. Owusu-Boateng also has a personal connection to the Irish through his brother, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, a former Notre Dame star and Butkus Award winner. His brother’s advice has been influential, with Owusu-Koramoah encouraging him to trust the process and highlighting the benefits of the program.
Owusu-Boateng isn’t rushing his decision and suggests it could come in November or December. Academics are a crucial factor in his choice, along with finding a school that will develop him both on and off the field. He’s also looking for a coach who trusts his abilities and can showcase them on the football field.
Despite sitting out due to injury, Owusu-Boateng was impressed with how IMG Academy fought back in the second half to secure a 27-14 win over Bergen Catholic, which reinforced his desire to join a team that values brotherhood and passion for the game.
