Following his departure from Real Madrid, forward Guerschon Yabusele has officially joined the Philadelphia 76ers, the team announced.
The 76ers did not reveal the specifics of Yabusele’s contract, but reports from earlier indicated that the 28-year-old is set to sign a one-year deal at the league minimum. Given his two years of NBA experience, his salary for the 2024/25 season will be $2,087,519.
Drafted 16th overall in 2016, Yabusele spent a year playing in China before joining the Boston Celtics, where he played from 2017 to 2019. During his time in Boston, he appeared in 74 games and averaged 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.1 minutes per game.
Although his initial NBA tenure was underwhelming, Yabusele has excelled internationally in recent years. He won a EuroLeague title with Real Madrid in 2023, as well as Spanish League titles in 2022 and 2024, and a French League championship with ASVEL in 2021. Additionally, he played a crucial role for the French national team, which earned a silver medal at the Paris Olympics this summer.
In his last season with Real Madrid, Yabusele played in 64 Liga ACB and EuroLeague games, averaging 9.7 points and 4.0 rebounds, with shooting percentages of .531 from the field, .445 from three-point range, and .813 from the free-throw line. During the 2024 Olympics, he averaged 14.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in six games, earning second-team honors for his performance.
The Sixers now have 17 players on their roster, leaving them four spots short of the offseason limit.
