Wisconsin Football Targeting Dynamic 2026 Speedster After All-State Season

The Wisconsin football staff has recently shown strong interest in a talented wide receiver known for his exceptional speed. Tanner Montano, a 2026 prospect from La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has quickly become a key target for Wisconsin. Montano not only excels on the football field but is also a standout track athlete, with a personal best of 10.64 seconds in the 100-meter dash. He recently discussed his college recruiting experience with the Wisconsin Sports Heroics team.

The Wisconsin Badgers have identified Montano as a promising player, and his impressive performance last season has drawn their attention. Despite a slow start during his freshman year, when he had just one reception for 44 yards, Montano made significant strides this past season. He recorded 41 catches for 891 yards and eight touchdowns, including a notable 97-yard touchdown run. Additionally, he showcased his versatility by experimenting with rushing plays, scoring two touchdowns on the ground.

Although Montano is new to the recruiting process, he has been in close contact with both Wisconsin and the University of New Mexico. New Mexico has maintained a strong relationship with him so far, but Montano is still exploring what he wants in a potential college destination.

Montano’s speed and deep-threat capabilities make him a valuable asset. He believes his speed not only makes him a significant offensive threat but also creates opportunities for his teammates. Montano is also working on refining his route running and footwork, aiming to become a more complete player.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, Montano’s speed and agility could add a dynamic element to their offense. The staff values versatile athletes who can impact the game in multiple ways. Although Montano is still familiarizing himself with the recruiting process, he has enjoyed interacting with the coaches and staff who have reached out. To secure Montano in the future, Wisconsin will need to maintain a strong connection with this promising wide receiver.
