Knicks Acquire Lakers Superstar Center in Major 3-Team Trade Proposal

The New York Knicks are still searching for a center to replace Isaiah Hartenstein, who departed in free agency. Mitchell Robinson is currently the starting center, with the undersized Precious Achiuwa expected to serve as the backup. However, concerns about Robinson’s health, given his recent ankle surgeries, have sparked talks about acquiring another center.

Potential Trade for Anthony Davis

Heavy Sports’ Collin Loring has proposed a blockbuster three-team trade that could shake up the NBA. According to this proposal, the Knicks would acquire star center Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers, with the Golden State Warriors also involved in the trade. The proposed deal includes:

Knicks receive:** Anthony Davis
Lakers receive:** Stephen Curry, Moses Moody
Warriors receive:** Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, D’Angelo Russell

This trade could address the Knicks‘ center issue by bringing in one of the league’s top players. If the trade were to happen, it would likely involve several first-round picks. The addition of Davis would pair him with Jalen Brunson, potentially creating one of the league’s most formidable duos.

With Davis on board, OG Anunoby might shift to power forward, and Josh Hart could take on the starting small forward role. The Knicks would maintain a strong starting lineup, although they would lose depth, as the trade does not include any additional bench players. The Knicks‘ depth, currently one of their strengths, could be compromised by this move.

Davis, despite his impressive stats last season—24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game—has struggled with injuries and is now 31 years old. This raises concerns about his durability going forward.

There is no current indication that the Lakers are willing to trade Davis, nor are the Knicks looking to move Randle at this time. However, as the season progresses, team directions may shift, and a major trade could become a possibility.
