TAMPA ― On Sunday, the Bucs began trimming their roster to 53 players by parting ways with long snapper Zach Triner, who had been with the team for five seasons. They will now rely on second-year player Evan Deckers as their primary long snapper for punts, field goals, and extra points.
The team also released defensive tackle Judge Culpepper, the son of former Bucs and Vikings player Brad Culpepper, and outside linebacker Shaun Peterson.
Other cuts include tight ends Sal Cannella and David Wells; wide receivers Tanner Knue, Cephus Johnson, and Latreal Jones; offensive lineman Xavier Delgado; running back Ramon Jefferson; and outside linebacker Jay Person.
Receiver Rakim Jarrett and running back Chase Edmonds will start the season on injured reserve.
Additionally, the Bucs waived rookie linebacker Kalen DeLoach, who had been hindered by a groin injury and missed the preseason finale against the Dolphins.
Punter Nolan Cooney was also released, leaving Jake Camarda as the sole punter. Cooney had a notable 63-yard punt in the last game.
Former Central Arkansas cornerback Andrew Hayes, who had five tackles in the last game, and receiver Raleigh Webb, who has been with the Ravens, Patriots, and Dolphins, were also released. Webb had joined the Bucs’ practice squad late last season.
Triner, 33, had been with the Bucs since 2019, playing in 75 games and recording 10 special teams tackles. Deckers, 25, who played at UMass and Duke, was signed to the practice squad in December after Triner suffered an elbow injury.
