Notre Dame football has faced significant challenges with receiver recruiting, especially for the 2025 class. However, it appears the situation is improving for the 2026 recruiting cycle.
The Irish have struggled to secure commitments from several of their top uncommitted targets recently. It may be a matter of shifting focus from the current recruiting class to prospects, potentially hitting a reset, and being content with their current commitments for the upcoming signing day.
This shift seems to be benefiting legacy prospect, Trent Mosley. One analyst suggests that Notre Dame is currently in a strong position to land the talented 2026 wide receiver, despite the team missing out on Trent’s brother during the 2024 cycle.
According to Mike Singer on Twitter, “I believe the Irish will eventually land 2026 four-star WR Trent Mosley. The son of ex-ND RB/WR Emmett Mosley IV and women’s soccer standout Cindy Mosley.”
Trent Mosley’s status as a legacy recruit adds to his appeal, even though it didn’t sway his brother. His father, Emmett, played running back and receiver for Notre Dame from 1993-1996, amassing 1,030 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns. His mother, Cindy, was a standout soccer player, winning the 1996 Hermann Trophy and setting a record with 61 goals for Notre Dame.
While Trent’s brother ended up at rival Stanford, Trent seems more inclined toward Notre Dame. The key now is when he will make his commitment and whether the Irish can retain him, given their recent struggles with other receiver recruits.
