Breaking News: Mavs Sign Sacramento Small Forward and Part Ways with Key Forward

The Mavericks have officially signed Kessler Edwards to a two-year deal, as announced in a team press release. In a corresponding move, they have waived two-way forward Alex Fudge.

The signing of Edwards was initially reported last month. Edwards has career averages of 3.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 11.9 minutes per game across 138 career games, including 27 starts, with the Nets and Kings. Last season with Sacramento, he averaged 1.7 points and 5.1 minutes per game over 54 appearances.

Although Edwards was eligible for restricted free agency this summer, the Kings chose not to extend a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Fudge had signed a two-way contract with Dallas in early March but only played in two games. The 20-year-old small forward started the season on a two-way deal with the Lakers, appearing in four games before being waived in early January. He also played 27 games in the G League last season.

At 21, Fudge, who went undrafted last year, played college basketball for LSU and Florida.

With Fudge’s release, the Mavericks now have an open two-way roster spot, with guard Brandon Williams occupying the other two-way spot.
