Arizona Cardinals Add Two Key Defensive Players to Roster Ahead of Preseason Opener

The Arizona Cardinals have signed linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. and cornerback Delonte Hood to their roster in preparation for their preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints this weekend.

“The Arizona Cardinals Football Club announced today the additions of linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. and cornerback Delonte Hood. The signings were completed today at State Farm Stadium, the venue for the 2024 Arizona Cardinals Training Camp.”

The signing of Haynes comes following the season-ending knee injury of edge rusher BJ Ojulari last week.

**About Haynes:**

“Haynes (6-2, 235) spent the past six seasons with the Panthers (2018-23), appearing in 71 games (two starts) and accumulating 92 tackles, 27 quarterback hits, 18 tackles for loss, 14.0 sacks, six passes defended, four fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one touchdown. He also contributed seven tackles on special teams.

Marquis Haynes Sr. remains in Florida for more tests

“Last season, Haynes played in seven games (one start) for Carolina, recording 16 tackles, three tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and one sack after starting the year on injured reserve. In 2022, he set career highs with 26 tackles, 13 quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss, five sacks, and four passes defensed.

“Haynes, 30, entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick (136th overall) in 2018 from Ole Miss, where he ended his college career as the Rebels’ all-time leader in tackles for loss (47.5) and sacks (32.0).”
