The Milwaukee Bucks continue to bolster their roster with young talent, as reported by Jon Chepkevich of Draft Express. The team has signed former Loyola-Chicago wing Philip Alston to an Exhibit 10 contract.
Alston went undrafted after his last two seasons with the Ramblers, where he averaged 13.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks with shooting percentages of 46.0% from the field, 32.6% from three-point range, and 66.7% from the free-throw line. He joined the Bucks for the summer league, participating in all three games and starting the final game against the Washington Wizards, where he recorded eleven points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Known for his athleticism, Alston is effective driving to the basket, rebounding, and playing defense.
Currently, the Bucks’ standard roster is filled with fourteen fully guaranteed contracts, plus Andre Jackson Jr.’s partially guaranteed contract (which becomes fully guaranteed on January 10, 2025), and three two-way contracts. During the offseason, teams can carry up to a 21-man roster, utilizing Exhibit 10 contracts to fill additional slots. These contracts are non-guaranteed, and players on these deals can be designated as affiliate players to retain their G League rights if waived.
Alston is the first Exhibit 10 signing for the Bucks this offseason, which will enable him to participate in training camp and preseason games. Although it is unlikely he will make the regular season roster or see NBA action, he could earn a $77.5k bonus if he spends 60 days with the Wisconsin Herd, which appears to be his likely destination this fall.
