Mike Macdonald Provides Crucial Update on Seahawks Quarterback’s Injury Status

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is anticipated to return to practice next week after missing several days due to hip and knee issues, according to coach Mike Macdonald.

Smith observed from the sidelines during the Seahawks’ fan fest practice at Lumen Field. Following the session, Macdonald indicated that Smith was scheduled for further tests but expressed optimism about his return to practice soon.

“We’re still evaluating, but things look promising,” Macdonald said.

Smith sustained a bump during practice last Tuesday and underwent imaging on Thursday.

In Smith’s absence, Sam Howell has been taking first-team reps, including on Saturday. Howell, who joined the Seahawks from Washington in March after starting every game for the Commanders last season, is filling in while Smith remains the team’s primary starter.

“It’s great to see him get a chance with the starters,” Macdonald commented on Howell’s performance. “Our offense is performing well, but we’re excited to have Geno back soon.”
