Turkish media reports suggest that Southampton goalkeeper Mateusz Lis is set to return to Goztepe during this transfer window.
Lis, who spent the previous season on loan with the Turkish club, played a key role in their promotion to the Super Lig. According to Yeni Asir, Southampton has approved his return on loan, and an agreement is reportedly in place for him to rejoin Goztepe soon.
Despite Lis’s apparent eagerness to return, Southampton was initially cautious due to interest from other clubs. Both Southampton and Goztepe are under the ownership of the Sports Republic group, which has also facilitated the loan of Japanese midfielder Kuryu Matsuki to Goztepe. Matsuki recently joined Southampton from FC Tokyo.
Lis made 31 appearances for Goztepe last season and seems to see his future with the club. He signed with Southampton on a five-year deal in 2022, arriving on a free transfer.
