Richmond midfielder Jack Ross will extend his stay at the Swinburne Centre for at least another two years after inking a new deal with the Club this week.
The new contract secures Ross, who has accumulated 68 senior appearances over six seasons, at Richmond through the end of the 2026 season.
Ross had a standout 2023 season, averaging 18 disposals across 19 games, and was continuing his strong form into 2024 before a foot stress injury sidelined him.
Despite a disrupted pre-season, Ross made an impact in the Opening Round after being brought on as a substitute at halftime. He averaged 21 touches over the next month before being sidelined again due to his foot issue.
The 23-year-old, who joined Richmond as the 43rd pick in the 2018 AFL National Draft, has demonstrated his versatility in various midfield roles throughout his career.
Ross played seven senior games in each of his first two seasons with the Club, which coincided with premiership victories in 2019 and 2020. He received more opportunities in the 2021 season, including seven games as a substitute, and became a regular in 2022.
Richmond General Manager of Football Talent, Blair Hartley, praised Ross for his dedication and progress, despite the challenges of his injury-plagued season.
“Jack has shown remarkable commitment and improvement during his time with us,” Hartley said. “Although his injury setback was unfortunate, his professionalism has been commendable. He is nearing full fitness, and we look forward to seeing him back on the field and contributing in the coming years.”
Ross acknowledged the difficulties of the current year but expressed optimism about his future with the Club.
“This year hasn’t gone exactly as planned, but securing this contract feels like a light at the end of the tunnel,” Ross said. “I’m loving my time here and am thrilled to extend it for another two years. I hope to get a few games in before the season ends and head into pre-season healthy and ready to go.”
Ross will embark on his seventh and eighth seasons with Richmond under the new contract.
