The New York Giants are bolstering their cornerback depth by claiming CB Mario Goodrich off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Goodrich, who was released by the Eagles on Tuesday after the team signed former Giants and Washington Commanders offensive lineman Nick Gates, will now join the Giants. He will be heading to New Jersey after hitting the waiver wire.
In the 2023 season, Goodrich played in four games for the Eagles, making one start and recording five tackles over 110 snaps (70 defensive, 40 special teams). He was targeted 10 times in coverage, allowing all 10 receptions for 118 yards and one touchdown.
Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 186 pounds, Goodrich is a former Clemson player who went undrafted in 2022. He has been a practice squad member for the Eagles since then.
The Giants, in need of additional cornerback support, are adding Goodrich as a developmental prospect. At just 24 years old, he offers potential as a depth piece or special teams player.
