Richmond will be strengthened by the return of key players Nick Vlastuin and Tim Taranto for their clash with Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday.
Reliable defender Vlastuin is back after missing just his second game of the season last weekend due to a back issue. Midfielder and 2023 Jack Dyer Medallist Taranto also returns following a concussion that kept him out of Round 19.
“Tim recovered quickly from his concussion and had a strong training session on Tuesday,” said Senior Coach Adem Yze. “Nick’s back issue had been lingering for about a month. He’s one of our leaders who pushed through the discomfort, but we needed to address it, and he’s come back well.”
The two players replace captain Toby Nankervis, who suffered a concussion against Port Adelaide, and Tyler Sonsie, who has been omitted. Richmond’s three emergencies are Jacob Bauer, Matt Coulthard, and Tyler Sonsie.
Noah Balta will reach his 100th AFL game on Sunday. “Noah has shown significant growth this season,” Yze noted. “His leadership has developed, and he’s become a key contest player for us. We’re excited to see him in action this weekend.”
Yze emphasized the importance of ending the home and away season strongly. “We want to maintain our quality footy against a top team. Last week’s performance was solid, and we aim to continue that form,” he added.
The game at the ‘G kicks off at 1:10pm (AEST) and will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and Kayo Sports.
