CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets have waived guard Reggie Jackson, just weeks after acquiring him and three future second-round draft picks from the Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets traded Jackson, who had one year remaining on his $10.2 million contract, due to salary cap constraints. The Hornets had the necessary cap space to absorb Jackson’s contract.
The 34-year-old veteran played all 82 games last season, averaging 10.2 points and 3.8 assists per game, with a 36% shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Jackson entered the NBA in 2011 with the Oklahoma City Thunder and has since built a solid career in the league. Despite his contributions last season, Charlotte decided to part ways with Jackson as they continue to reshape their roster.
This move comes as the Hornets also wrap up their NBA 2K25 Summer League campaign, finishing with a 4-1 record. The decision to waive Jackson reflects the Hornets’ strategic adjustments ahead of the upcoming season.
The release of Jackson leaves the Hornets with additional flexibility as they assess their roster needs. Jackson’s departure from Charlotte will make him a free agent, allowing him to explore other opportunities in the NBA. This development marks another chapter in Jackson’s career, as he seeks to continue his journey in professional basketball.
