The Chicago Bears should be considered among the winners of the offseason, having significantly enhanced their roster for the 2024 NFL season.
Holding the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Bears selected USC quarterback Caleb Williams, securing their cornerstone for the long term.
To support Williams, the Bears made key moves by drafting Rome Odunze ninth overall, trading for Keenan Allen, and signing D’Andre Swift in free agency. Additionally, they retained key receiving options like DJ Moore and Cole Kmet, providing Williams with a wealth of targets in the passing game.
The Bears also added Gerald Everett, who is expected to serve as the backup tight end to Kmet. Although Everett was placed on the NFL’s non-football injury list last Friday, he has since been activated, according to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic.
“The Bears are activating TE Gerald Everett off the non-football injury list,” Fishbain reported.

It appears that Everett’s issue was minor, as he is now set to rejoin the team and participate in training camp.
Everett, an athletic tight end, has been a valuable asset in the passing game at his previous stops and provides solid depth for a Chicago team looking to make an impact in 2024. With Williams leading the offense, the Bears are expected to be a pass-first team, which aligns well with their receiving talent.
While Everett might not play a major role, he can still contribute to Chicago’s success as they develop Williams.
