Southampton plan to loan out their soon-to-be signings, Juan Silva and Welington, to their sister club in Turkey, Goztepe.
The newly promoted Premier League club has scouted players in Brazil, targeting the Sao Paulo duo. Silva has reportedly signed a five-year contract, while Welington has a pre-contractual agreement with the club, though Southampton aims to secure him now.
Instead of heading straight to England, the pair will join Goztepe, a newly promoted Super Lig team, on two-year loan deals, as reported by the Turkish daily Star.
Sports Republic, which owns a 70 percent stake in Goztepe, will oversee the players’ development. Southampton will monitor their progress closely.
Both players are products of Sao Paulo’s academy and have been with the team for a while. Southampton hopes they will gain valuable European football experience at Goztepe before moving to England.
