The Citizens have already departed for their four-game schedule, featuring a mix of seasoned and young players as several key stars recover from major tournaments.
This presents an opportunity for Doyle, who might play in the matches against Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea. The final game of the tour, against the Blues, is on Saturday, August 3, just a week before the Canaries begin their Championship campaign against Oxford United.
A season-long loan deal has been arranged for the 20-year-old to join Carrow Road for the 2024-25 season. However, the move is still pending final approval from Pep Guardiola’s team, and any permanent offers for Doyle could complicate the transfer.
Norwich remains optimistic about securing the defender’s signing as they aim to strengthen their first-team left-back position. Under-21 prospect Guilherme Montoia has played in both of their pre-season friendlies so far, but sporting director Ben Knapper has been actively scouting for this position.
Knapper is considering other targets and may sign more than one left-back this summer, following the departures of Sam McCallum and Dimitris Giannoulis at the end of their contracts.
Francisco Moura from Famalicão has been linked with a move to Norfolk, while Leonardo Lelo from Casa Pia is also on Norwich’s radar but not actively pursued. Former Nordsjaelland left-back Martin Frese was a target before he signed with Hellas Verona.
Doyle has previously been on loan at Sunderland, Coventry, and Leicester, winning the Championship with the Foxes despite an injury-plagued season. He has also played for the England under-21s, earning three caps, and is versatile enough to play both center-back and left-back.
