Watford have announced on their official website that former Flying Eagles midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has signed a new contract. After an impressive season, the Championship club has rewarded him with a new two-year deal, with an option for an additional year.
Dele-Bashiru, like his brother Fisayo, came through the Manchester City Academy and joined Watford in 2019. His first season was limited to three appearances, and he suffered an ACL injury in the following campaign. During a loan spell at Reading, he regained form, making 39 appearances and scoring four goals.
Despite his success at Reading, Dele-Bashiru struggled for game time upon his return to Watford, featuring only six times in the 2022/2023 season due to injury. However, last season, he broke into the starting lineup, making 35 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship and scoring twice, including a 33-second goal against QPR on the opening day.
So far, Dele-Bashiru has played 49 times for Watford and could reach 50 appearances if he plays against Millwall on August 10, 2024.
