This move reunites Adams with defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson from his early days with the Jets. Tennessee was considered one of the top potential destinations for Adams this offseason.
The Titans have two starting safeties, Amani Hooker and Elijah Molden, but their depth chart is wide open. Adams could easily find a role as the third safety and has the potential to earn more playing time. He might also contribute at linebacker, where Tennessee has added Kenneth Murray and drafted Cedric Gray, along with several other players.
Adams, 28, was a first-round pick by the Jets in 2017. He played out his rookie contract and was traded to the Seahawks, who signed him to a four-year, $70 million extension in 2021. The Seahawks released him in March.
In 2023, Adams played nine games for the Seahawks, recording 48 tackles and two pass defenses. He is listed among the Top 100 2024 NFL Free Agents.
