ARIZONA — Former Arizona Cardinals safety and executive Adrian Wilson was mysteriously removed from the Carolina Panthers’ website after just accepting a position with them last offseason. The reason for his removal has now come to light.
According to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss, Wilson, 44, was arrested on three domestic violence charges by the Scottsdale Police Department. He faces charges of intentional assault causing physical injury, damaging property valued between $250 and $2,000, and disorderly conduct-disruptive behavior or fighting. While the date of the arrest was not listed in police records, Wilson posted bond on June 1. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 16 in a virtual case management conference.
Wilson, a notable figure in Arizona’s Ring of Honor, had a distinguished career with the Cardinals, earning three All-Pro nods and five Pro Bowl appearances over more than a decade. He retired with impressive statistics, including 181 games, 903 tackles, and 27 interceptions.
After his playing career, Wilson transitioned to an executive role, serving as the interim general manager for the Cardinals following the dismissal of Steve Keim at the end of the 2022 season. Despite his long tenure with the Cardinals’ front office since 2015, Wilson was not considered for the general manager position, which eventually went to Monti Ossenfort. Subsequently, Wilson accepted a role as the vice president of player personnel with the Panthers in 2023 but quietly left the organization later that year.
In response to inquiries, a Panthers spokesperson told Pro Football Talk, “Adrian Wilson will not continue in his position as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Carolina Panthers. Consistent with our organizational policy on employee matters, we will have no further comment.”
