UNC Basketball Steps Up Recruiting Pursuit of 4-Star Forward Amid Strong Competition from Michigan, Michigan State, and Louisville

UNC basketball’s interest in Christ School (N.C.) big man Zymicah Wilkins isn’t new. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound player, ranked No. 85 overall and No. 4 among North Carolina prospects on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, has been hearing from the Chapel Hill staff since late last summer.

However, it appears the Tar Heels’ interest in Wilkins is intensifying, though he has yet to receive an offer.

Two assistants from Hubert Davis’ staff watched Wilkins score 25 points and grab eight rebounds at the DMV Live prep showcase at DeMatha Catholic High School (Md.). Following his impressive performance, Wilkins told 247Sports’ Dushawn London that UNC is among the four schools recruiting him the hardest, along with Michigan, Michigan State, and Louisville.

Wilkins, who has long been a target for UNC rival NC State, holds over a dozen offers, including some from ACC schools like Clemson and Virginia Tech.

Meanwhile, UNC’s recruiting team has been expanding its 2025 offer sheet over the past six weeks, now featuring 17 prospects with only one eliminating UNC from consideration. The latest addition to their target list is The Bullis School (Md.) four-star center Eric Reibe, who also caught the Tar Heels’ attention at DMV Live.
